A yarn is given its color during the spinning process. Because the color masterbatch is added to the fiber raw material, the whole fiber is fully dyed from the core to the surface, and has excellent color fastness to sunlight and water washing. By dyeing the fibers without water, chemical waste, energy use and carbon dioxide can be reduced, among other things. The process uses about 80 percent less water, 20-30 percent less dye, 80 percent less other chemicals, and requires less energy than traditional dyeing.
